RUSSELL LOWREY

ISLAND RECOLLECTIONS

“One of my vivid childhood memories is of the drives with my parents past the sleepy towns of Kaaawa, Punaluu and Malaekahana to the North Shore of Oahu. Thinking back, those rides were the most relaxing, enjoyable times of my life.”

Today, Lowrey paints his island recollections in soft but colorful hues, reminiscent of the pristine, tropical lagoons he remembers growing up with. His works are a unique combination of acrylic paints and oil pastels. The mediums travel well, are very immediate and offer a wide range of colors.

“I’m continuosly working to get my childhood memories onto canvas and wood in the hopes that my grandchildren and theirs will be able to see and feel how the island was when I was a boy. I have my best work professionally scanned and my classic images restored so that both may be reproduced to faithful giclee formats.”

Russell is currently working on new paintings for galleries, private collectors and various institutions.
